Auto-Role

Automatically give every new member one or more roles.

In the panel under: Moderation, Auto-Role

Everyone who joins the server immediately gets the roles you set here. This is the simplest module of all: one switch and a role selection.

Setup

  1. Enable the module

  2. Choose roles to assign

    One or more. All of them are given at the same time.

  3. Save

When a role can't be given

In that case, the panel shows a warning with exactly the roles that fail:

The bot does not have permission to assign the following roles. Make sure the bot role is above these roles in the role hierarchy.

The cause is practically always one of two things:

  1. The role is above the bot role. Drag the bot role up in the server settings.
  2. The bot is missing Manage Roles.

Working together

If you use Verification, give the Unverified role with Auto-Role and let Verification take it away again. That way a new member sees exactly one channel from the start.

With Sticky Roles, returning members come back with their old roles instead of only getting the auto role.
