Logging

Six separate log channels for moderation, messages, members, voice, server and nicknames.

In the panel under: Moderation, Logging

Records what happens on your server, in Discord channels of your choice. There are deliberately six separate channels instead of one, because the whole team usually should see moderation logs, while message logs should be much more restricted.

The six channels

Channel What ends up there
Moderation Log Warnings, mutes, kicks, bans
Message Log Edited and deleted messages
Member Log Joins, leaves, role changes
Voice Log Joining, switching and leaving voice channels
Server Log Changes to channels, roles and server settings
Nickname Log Changed nicknames

You don't have to set all six. An empty field simply means that this kind of event isn't logged.

Filters

Setting Meaning
Ignored Channels Events from these channels aren't logged
Ignored Categories Applies to every channel under them, including ones created later
Ignored Roles Events from members with one of these roles aren't logged
Log bot actions Off by default, so bot messages don't flood the log

Typical setup

  1. Create a private category

Only visible to your team, for example "Logs".

  2. Create six channels in it

    For example mod-log, nachrichten-log, mitglieder-log, voice-log, server-log, nickname-log.

  3. Assign them in the panel and save

  4. Ignore the log category

Add it under Ignored Categories, otherwise the bot logs its own logs.

What Logging isn't

Log embeds are records, so they deliberately can't be redesigned in the Message Builder. Their format stays fixed so that an entry from today looks just like one from a year ago.

For changes to the bot configuration there's the Audit Log, which is something else.

Required permissions

Send Messages and Embed Links in the log channel, Read Message History, View Audit Log (so the bot knows who triggered an action).

Audit LogWho changed which setting, and when.
