The Message Builder

The editor you use to design almost every bot message yourself.

You can design almost every message AlphaCloud sends on your server yourself: welcome messages, ticket panels, penalty DMs, giveaways, polls and many more. The editor for this is the same everywhere, so you only have to learn it once.

The switch

Every message you can design has a Use a custom message switch at the top.

State What happens
Off The module's built-in message is used. The module shows its own fields like title and color
On Your design replaces the built-in message

You can go back at any time with Reset to default.

The two formats

The classic Discord embed with a fixed structure:

Building block Meaning
Message text Normal text above the embed, for example a ping
Title With an optional link
Description The main text
Color The bar on the left. Can stay empty, then there's no color
Thumbnail Small, top right
Image Large, at the bottom
Author Name, icon and link, at the very top
Footer Text and icon, at the very bottom
Fields Small labeled blocks below the description, optionally side by side
Timestamp
Link buttons Below it

Variables

A placeholder in curly braces that the bot replaces with the real value when sending.

Willkommen {user} auf {guild}! Du bist Mitglied Nummer {memberCount}.

becomes

Willkommen @Max auf Mein Server! Du bist Mitglied Nummer 1.234.

The variable chips in the editor insert at the spot where your cursor was last. They're sorted into three groups:

Group Contains
The person {user}, {username}, {user.id}, {user.avatar}, {user.createdAt}
Your server {guild}, {guild.id}, {guild.icon}, {memberCount}
This message What only this one message can do, for example {prize} or {closedBy}

Channel mentions

Type a # in the text and a picker with your channels opens. The inserted reference shows up in Discord as a clickable channel mention, and in the preview you see the real channel name.

Required blocks

Some messages contain a block that you can move but not remove. It's marked as locked in the editor and shows you sample content.

There are two kinds:

Kind Examples
Buttons and menus Category menu in the ticket panel, verify buttons, join button for giveaways, rating buttons
Computed content Poll results, team list, Support Entries leaderboard, reason and duration in a penalty DM
State What the bot sends
Footer empty, without Premium "Powered by AlphaCloud"
Footer empty, with Premium or Partner Your own footer from Branding
Footer filled, with Premium or Partner Your text here
Footer filled, without Premium The standard footer. Your text stays saved and takes effect as soon as you're unlocked

Live Preview

On the right you see what the message will look like in Discord, with sample values for all variables.

Several messages in one module

If a module has several messages you can design, Design messages opens a shared editor: on the left the list of all messages with their status, on the right the switch and the editor.

This applies to Tickets with 22 messages, Moderation with 5 penalty DMs, Recording Obligation, Giveaways, Suggestions and AutoMod.

Useful there:

  • Load the default inserts a sample template into an empty message
  • Reset all resets every message of the module to the default
  • From nine messages on, there's a search field
  • The editor remembers unsaved changes. If you reload the page, it offers them to you again

Marketplace

In the Marketplace tab you'll find designs that other servers have shared.

Embed MarketplaceUse ready-made designs from other servers and share your own.

Which messages can't be designed

Four kinds, on purpose:

  • Log embeds. A log is a record. Its format stays fixed so that an entry from today looks just like one from a year ago.
  • Messages that are already free. Sticky Message and Auto Responder send a saved embed or raw text anyway. A second editor next to it would only be confusing.
  • Game states. Every Minigames message changes with every move.
  • Private replies to a click that only the person who clicked sees.
