Reaction Roles

Role panels where members give themselves their roles at the press of a button.

In the panel under: Moderation, Reaction Roles

You post a message with buttons, and each button stands for a role. Members click and pick up their roles themselves, for example ping roles, colors or interest groups.

Panels

Everything is organized in panels. A panel is a message in a channel with its own list of roles. You can create several panels, for example one for notifications and one for games.

  1. New panel

Click New panel and give it a name. The name is only for you in the panel.

  2. Choose a panel channel

That's where the message is posted.

  3. Set title, description and color

The defaults are "Role Selection" and "Choose your roles!".

  4. Add entries

For each entry: role, label, emoji and button style. Then click Add.

  5. Save

When you save, the panel is automatically sent or updated in the chosen channel. You don't have to post it manually.

An entry

Field Meaning
Role What the button gives and takes away again
Label The button's text
Emoji Optional, appears before the label
Button style Blue, gray, green or red

One click gives the role, another click takes it away again. So members manage this themselves.

Log channel

Optional. The bot logs there who gave themselves or removed which role.

Custom design

Every panel has its own design in the Message Builder. The role buttons are a required block: you can move them within the message, but not delete them.

Delete a panel

The Delete panel button removes the panel and all its entries from the system. The Discord message stays, but it no longer works. Delete it by hand afterwards.

Commands

There's also a command route, among other things for classic reaction roles on existing messages:

Command Effect
/reactionroles setup Configure the panel: color, title, log channel
/reactionroles add Add a role to the button panel
/reactionroles edit Edit an existing entry
/reactionroles remove Remove an entry
/reactionroles send Send the panel to a channel
/reactionroles list List all panels
/reactionroles reaction-add Add a reaction role to an existing message
/reactionroles reaction-remove Remove a reaction role from a message
