Honeypot

A trap channel that removes anyone who writes in it.

In the panel under: Moderation, Honeypot

You create a channel where nobody has any business being, and make it stand out. Whoever writes there is very likely a spam bot, because a real member reads the channel name first. The bot kicks or bans automatically.

Setup

  1. Create a trap channel

A text channel with a name that lures bots and warns humans, for example nicht-hier-schreiben or free-nitro.

  2. Warn clearly

Add a pinned message or a channel description that clearly says: whoever writes here gets removed.

  3. Enable the module and choose the channel

  4. Set the action and log channel

Settings

Setting Meaning
Honeypot Channel The trap channel. Every message in it triggers
Action Kick or ban
Delete messages from the last 24 hours On by default. Off means: only the message in the honeypot disappears, all other messages from the account stay
Log Channel Optional, logs every trigger
Embed Color Color of the warning embed in the honeypot channel

The warning in the channel

The bot itself posts a warning embed in the honeypot channel. It makes people aware that writing here has consequences. You can design it in the Message Builder.

The DM

Whoever triggered it gets a DM, which you can design under DM when the honeypot triggers. The reason sits in a locked block.

Required permissions

Kick Members or Ban Members, Manage Messages, Send Messages and Embed Links.
