Discord basics
Channel A room on your server. Text channel for messages, voice channel for voice, forum channel for posts, announcement channel for messages that other servers can follow.
Category A folder that holds several channels. Modules like Tickets and Temp Voice create new channels in a category you choose.
Role A group with permissions and a color. Roles are stacked on top of each other, and this order decides who can edit whom.
Role position A bot can only give out roles that are below its own highest role, and can only moderate members whose highest role is below its own. This is the most common reason an action fails.
ID Every message, channel, role and user has a long number as its identifier. You get it by right-clicking once you turn on Developer Mode in Discord under Settings, Advanced. Some commands want an ID instead of a selection.
Slash command
A command that starts with /, for example /ban. It only shows up when the matching module is active.
Timeout Discord's own mute. A member in timeout can't type or talk for a set amount of time. AlphaCloud uses this in AutoMod, for example.
AlphaCloud terms
Module A feature area in the panel, for example Tickets. Can be turned on and off individually.
Embed The colored box the bot sends its messages in. With a title, text, images and fields.
Components V2 Discord's newer message format. Instead of an embed, you build the message from building blocks: text, separators, images, buttons. You choose between the two formats in the Message Builder.
Message Builder The editor you use to design bot messages yourself. It shows up in almost every module.
Variable
A placeholder in curly braces, for example {user} or {server}. The bot replaces it with the real value when sending.
Required block A part of a message that you can move but not delete, for example the category menu in the ticket panel. Without it the message wouldn't work.
Panel Has two meanings. Usually it means the web panel. For Tickets, Verification and Reaction Roles, "panel" means the message in Discord where members press a button.
Entitlement The internal name for a server's Premium unlock, whether bought, gifted or redeemed with a code.
Grant A single unlock of that kind, with a source and a duration. You can see your active grants under Setup.
Partner A server with an official AlphaCloud partnership. Partners get their own perks, including their own footer and their own statistics page.
Premium terms
Free The default. All 69 modules are usable, some have quantity limits.
Premium The paid subscription. Raises the limits and unlocks Branding. Details under Free and Premium.
Lifetime An unlock with no expiration date. Extra time from rewards doesn't extend it, because it never ends anyway.
Bonus days Gifted Premium time on a server that already has a running subscription. It's added to your subscription, so your next charge moves back accordingly.
