AFK Room
Automatically move inactive members to an AFK voice channel.
In the panel under: Moderation, AFK Room
Someone who mutes themselves and then does nothing takes up a spot in the voice channel without really being there. AFK Room automatically moves such members to a separate channel after a while.
Setup
Create an AFK voice channel
Create a voice channel in Discord, for example "AFK".
Enable the module and choose the channel
Set the timeout and trigger
Add bypass roles
Whoever you never want to move.
Settings
| Setting | Meaning |
|---|---|
| AFK Channel | Where members are moved |
| Log Channel | Optional, logs every move |
| Log in the AFK channel | Posts the moves in the text chat of the AFK voice channel instead of a separate log channel |
| Inactivity Timeout (Minutes) | How long someone has to be inactive, 1 to 1440 minutes |
| Trigger | What counts as inactive |
| Exclude Roles | These members are never moved |
| Exempt channels and categories | Whoever sits in one of these voice channels or in one of these categories is never moved |
| Fallback channel | If the old voice channel no longer exists or the member isn't allowed to join it, the bot brings them back here |
| Chat activity counts | A message or reaction counts as activity, see below |
The four triggers
| Trigger | When someone counts as inactive |
|---|---|
| Muted and Deafened | Both at the same time, the strictest criterion |
| Muted only | Microphone off is enough |
| Deafened only | Sound off is enough |
| Chat inactivity only | No message and no reaction during the set time, the microphone plays no role |
With Chat inactivity only, a member who sits silently in voice but writes in chat stays in place. Whoever only listens and writes nothing is moved after the time. "Chat activity counts" is always on in this mode.
Chat activity counts
Many people turn off their microphone in the voice channel and still keep typing in chat. With Chat activity counts, that counts as active:
- A message or reaction anywhere on the server restarts the AFK timer.
- Someone who has already been moved to the AFK channel and then types or reacts is brought back to their previous channel.
The switch is off by default.
Messages
| Message | When it comes |
|---|---|
| Warning before the move | 1 to 5 minutes before the move, if turned on. Anyone who unmutes before then stays in the channel and isn't moved |
| Message after being brought back | When the bot has brought a member back from the AFK channel, not when they go back by themselves |
Both go out as a DM. If DMs are closed, they land in the text chat of the voice channel, the warning then with a mention so the member sees it. You can also have the message after being brought back sent straight to the text chat. You write the text yourself or design it in the Message Builder. Variables of the warning: {user}, {channel}, {afkChannel}, {minutes} and {guild}.
