AlphaCloud v1.10.0: A New Design, Two New Modules and Four of Your Ideas

The website, the panel and all our other sites in a new design with a light and a dark theme, Alfi as our mascot, Role Links, Auto Slowmode, tickets as forum posts and an AFK Room that counts chat activity.

v1.10.0 is our biggest update so far for everything you see of AlphaCloud in the browser, and it brings two new modules. Four of the additions came straight from our ideas board, and we built all four in a single day.

A new design for everything

The website, the panel, ideas, bug reports, appeals, transcripts and goto now look the same and have a light and a dark theme. Light is the default, dark follows your system until you switch yourself. In the panel, settings now sit in a grid instead of one long column, the "Enable module" switch sits next to Save at the top, and every page, popup and notification follows the same style.

The panel also got much lighter along the way: a page loads about 0.4 MB of code instead of 2.7 MB. On a phone you notice that right away. How the new design came about is told in detail in Web v2: a new website, a new panel and a small mascot.

Alfi, our mascot

Alfi is a small pixel cloud on two feet. He greets you at login, sits on the cookie dialog, cheers you up on error pages and holds the fort when a list is still empty or we are doing maintenance. He has 13 moods and more than 100 small animations.

The suggestion from the ideas board: "If someone has the Beginner role, give them role 1, 2 and 3." That is exactly what the new module does. As soon as a member gets the trigger role, no matter from whom, AlphaCloud hands out the linked roles too. If you want, the bot takes them away again when the trigger role is gone.

A module that hands out roles automatically must never be a shortcut to permissions you do not have yourself. So when you save, the panel checks that every linked role sits below your own highest role. Free servers get 3 rules, Premium 25. Details in the Role Links documentation (in German).

Auto Slowmode, deliberately without AI

The request was an "AI slowmode": when lots of people type at once, the slowmode should go up. We built two parts of it differently. We do not count typing indicators: that would need an extra Discord permission and a stream of additional events for every server, only to answer the same question in the end. And the decision does not need AI: "more than 20 messages in a minute from at least three people" is a clear rule, faster, cheaper and easy for you to follow.

When a watched channel gets busy, the slowmode goes up one step, at most every 30 seconds. After two calm minutes it goes down one step, until it is back at exactly your own value, even across a bot restart. A single spammer does not trigger anything, that is what AutoMod is for. Free servers can watch 3 channels, Premium 10. More in the Auto Slowmode documentation (in German).

Tickets as forum posts

A ticket category can now open its tickets as posts in a forum instead of creating a new channel every time. The channel list stays short and all tickets sit in one place.

To be honest, we first got this wrong and built private threads, only afterwards it became clear that a forum was meant. There is one limit you should know about: Discord has no permissions per forum post. Whoever sees the forum reads every ticket in it. For applications, reports or payment questions, keep the category on its own channel. See Tickets (in German).

AFK Room now counts chat activity

Someone who has their mic muted in voice but keeps writing in chat is not AFK. With the new "Chat activity counts" option, a message or reaction restarts the AFK timer, and anyone already moved is brought back. The option is off by default. See AFK Room (in German).

What else is new

  • Link previews in Discord: links to our sites now show a preview with buttons, for example "Invite the bot", "Open the panel", "Vote" on an idea and "Me too" on a bug. Every page, idea, bug report and server page has its own preview image
  • Panel overview with real numbers: activity over the last 7, 30 or 90 days, the most used modules and how members, channels and roles changed over the last week
  • Ideas and bug reports: ideas are now a ranking where you vote directly in the list, bug reports a status board with columns for open, in progress, fixed and closed. Both now show every entry instead of only the first 50
  • The blog is available in all 21 languages, this article included
  • Support chat in our Discord: the AI assistant now answers like real support, short, with the exact path in the panel, always in your language, marked as an AI answer and with buttons for a ticket, the panel and the docs
  • A short survey: now and then the bot asks anonymously before a panel click how happy you are with AlphaCloud (1 to 10, skippable). At most every 6 months per person, never on verification and never on Premium servers
  • Sales: when a Premium sale is running, every panel page shows a banner with a countdown and the occasion

Fixed

The list is long, here are the points you were most likely to notice:

  • Role Names reset members' own nicknames on every role change in username mode
  • Member Messages could no longer be saved after Premium ran out, and someone who left and came back shortly after got no new welcome message
  • Server owners got the welcome DMs again every time the bot was removed and added back
  • In the panel, tooltips were cut off, notice boxes were see-through, and some module pages had no explanation under the title
  • Branding, Temp Voice, Minigames and Temporary Roles show clear messages instead of raw error texts

Removed

The "Support the project" page and the 3D globe on the home page are gone, and the public API documentation is now only available to our team.

The full list is in the changelog on our Discord server. And if you have an idea yourself: ideas.alphacloud.bot. As this update shows, a good suggestion sometimes lands in the bot faster than you would think.
