AlphaCloud v1.8.0: Almost Every Message the Bot Sends Is Now Yours

The Message Builder turns fixed bot text into something you design yourself. Also new: a marketplace for designs and a daily reward you can trade for Premium.

v1.8.0 shipped on 6 September, the largest update so far. Instead of a list of checkmarks, here is the part that actually changes something, and why we built it that way.

The problem: good bots all sound the same

A bot sends a lot of messages. Welcomes, ticket panels, giveaway announcements, the DM after a warning. Until now these texts were hardcoded. You could often change a title and a color, the rest was our draft.

That leads to a result nobody wanted: a roleplay server, a study server and a gaming community all greet their members with the same message, just in a different color. The bot looks like the bot everywhere, not like the server.

The Message Builder

With v1.8.0 you can design almost every message the bot sends on your behalf. In the panel, with a preview that shows how it really looks in Discord.

This does not only cover the obvious places. Welcome, leave and boost, the ticket panels and the 19 messages around a ticket's lifecycle, verification, giveaways, polls, reminders, birthdays and the DMs behind /ban, /kick, /warn, /mute and /unmute.

Three decisions matter to us here:

Variables instead of placeholder text. You write {user}, {guild} or {memberCount} mid-sentence, through an autocomplete that works like a mention. On send, the real value appears. Every variable is explained where you pick it, with an example: {user} in a welcome message means something different from {user} in a ticket close notice.

Required blocks can be moved, not deleted. A ticket panel's category menu, the verify buttons, the reason in a sanction DM: these appear as a locked card you can drag elsewhere. The reason is uncomfortably concrete. A redesigned ban DM missing the reason is worthless to the member it reaches, and a ticket panel without its category menu looks functional and does nothing.

The standard settings do not disappear. When you switch a message to a custom design, the module's normal settings stay visible, just greyed out. That makes it clear what your design replaced. Settings that apply on top rather than being replaced, such as the join ping or the welcome card, stay usable.

The full description is in the Message Builder documentation.

A marketplace for designs

If you do not want to start from nothing, the same window has a marketplace: other servers publish their designs and you load them into yours with one click. Whole packs work too, so a complete ticket set instead of 22 individual imports.

Anything from your server is stripped before sharing: channel, role and user mentions, custom emoji and jump links. Otherwise a shared design would send strangers into your server and render as broken text for everybody else. More on that in the Embed Marketplace.

Login Coins

The second big part has nothing to do with messages. Whoever opens the panel can collect coins once a day and trade them for Premium time for one of their servers.

A few rules that are deliberate:

  • The coins are collected, never credited in passing. There is a button, and a short wait before it.
  • Every consecutive day pays a little more, every seventh day gives a bonus.
  • The shop opens once you have collected on two different days. A full week of Premium costs roughly three weeks of daily visits.
  • A server can receive at most 7 days of Premium per 30 days from coins, however many accounts redeem into it, and a Discord account has to be at least 30 days old.

That last rule is the important one. The limit sits on the server, not the account, because the Premium time lands on a server. That way ten throwaway accounts redeem exactly as much as one, and farming stops paying off.

The leaderboard is voluntary and off by default. It ranks total coins earned rather than your current balance, so redeeming Premium never costs you a place.

Both routes to free Premium are covered in Free Premium.

The rest in brief

  • To-Dos can remove themselves after being ticked off, immediately or after a delay
  • Booster messages detect every individual boost, not just a member's first
  • /help and /info have clearer sections and a row of quick links
  • Verify can hide the disabled counter next to the verify button
  • Cookie consent and consent-gated analytics now run in every app, not only on the website

The complete list is in the changelog on our Discord server.
